When two oceans meet, a Blak Wave is formed.
Blak Wave Productions is a Bristol born, UK production company founded by Michael Jenkins and Somina "Mena" Fombo.
We make bold, character-led drama and documentary for film and television.
We create stories rooted in real experience and social tension, amplifying unheard voices and telling untold stories.
Commissioned by BBC, Channel 4, Warner Brothers / TNT Sports, Paramount and BFI Network.
Our films have screened at major festivals including Encounters, Pan African Film & Arts Festival (LA), Toronto Black Film Festival, Aesthetica and BFI Flare, with work nominated at the Royal Television Society West awards.
Blak Wave was an Emerging Indies recipient with Channel 4 and has just been awarded Channel 4's IP Fund for a new drama series.
Our flagship development programme, New Voices, is delivered in partnership with BFI NETWORK South West, championing fresh voices and perspectives.
Blak Wave are PACT members and both founders are BAFTA full voting members.
Our core values underpin all of our work.
Authenticity and Integrity
Representative and Inclusive
Collaborative and Inspiring
Blak Wave Productions authentically hails from Bristol in the heart of the South West of England.
